FRENCH FIFTEEN was the impressive winner of the Listed Criterium de l’Ouest at Craon this afternoon, making his sire TURTLE BOWL the first French sire with a 1st crop to have a stakes winner in 2011. FRENCH FIFTEEN has been going from strength to strength, with this his fourth consecutive win.
Despite a tricky beginning for both buyers and sellers on the first day of the sale, the overall results of the August yearling sale were pleasing.
HARAS DE LA REBOURSIERE ET DE MONTAIGU finished the sale in 4thplace with an average price of €77,821 with 28 yearlings sold from the 32 presented.
Haras d’Etreham topped the sale yet again, followed by Haras de Monceaux in 2nd place with an exceptional average price of € 204,333 for 15 yearlings sold. Haras de la Perelle sold the sales topper, a gorgeous filly by Galileo ex Sanjida, for a phenomenal €1,700,000 to an Australian syndicate Waratah Thoroughbreds (record price for Arqana).
The sales were particularly satisfying for R&M as not only did we sell a high percentage of our yearlings we also achieved an average price in accordance with our expectations, and the first yearlings by our young stallions LITERATO and ASTRONOMER ROYAL sold very well, finishing up with good average prices. The LITERATO yearlings impressed buyers for their good looks and the ASTRONOMER ROYAL yearlings for their athletic build.
We look forward to seeing their first 2-year-olds on the racecourse next year.

RECITAL (Montjeu X Dibenoise) is second best 2YO in 2010, bred by R&M for Mrs Renée Geffroy !
Roderic O’Connor, winner of Criterium International (Gr1), takes leadership beating stable mate RECITAL.
ASTRONOMER ROYAL has just arrived from Australia via Newmarket.
He's in terrific condition and ready to serve european broodmares.
He had a good second season in Australia, with the support of local breeders and he covered 70 mares, among them several Black Type mares; We are very optimistic with his first production.
His 2011 condition is 5000 euros LF.
He's waiting for your visit on Normandy Stallion Tour next 5th of february.
ETENDARD D’OR was the impressive winner of the Prix de Mondeville 2-year-old race on the fibre track at Deauville today. He showed a fantastic turn of foot in the straight leaving his rivals struggling to keep up, justifying why he was the favorite for the race .
ETENDARD D’OR is out of top R&M broodmare ROTINA, who has already produced numerous Group horses such as BELLE ET CELEBRE, APPEL AU MAITRE, YSOLDINA, WHORTLEBERRY, VALENTINO etc. He was sold by R&M for € 200,000 to the Marquise de Moratalla at the 2009 Arqana Yearling Sale.
His trainer Alain de Royer Dupré, and jockey Stephane Pasquier, were very pleased with his race and especially his acceleration in the final straight.
The yearlings, and the foals from R&M stallion TURTLE BOWL were very well received at the Arqana sales this year.
These impressive individuals are of good size, with plenty of bone and have the calm temperament of their sire.
The future looks very promising for this first crop who we look forward to seeing on the racecourse in 2011.
RECITAL (MONTJEU / DIBENOISE) provided R&M with its second Gr.1 winner of the year yesterday when he flew home to take the Critérium de Saint Cloud (Gr.1) by 5 lengths. Trained by the master Aiden O’Brien at Ballydoyle, RECITAL was bought by Demi O’Byrne for € 750,000 at last year’s Arqana August yearling sale from the R&M consignment. This was RECITAL’s second outing this year - he won his maiden in Navan in October.
RECITAL was born and raised at R&M for his breeder Mme Renée Geffroy and Caragh Bloodstock. His dam DIBENOISE (KENDOR / BOREALE) is owned by Mme Geffroy and has already produced a Gr.1 winner in CORRE CAMINOS (Prix Ganay Gr.1), a full-brother to RECITAL. Her other progeny include the Gr.2 Prix Muguet winner and triple Gr.3 winner, RACINGER.
DIBENOISE has a filly foal, full-sister to RECITAL and CORRE CAMINOS, and she is back in-foal to MONTJEU.
R&M sire MARTALINE (photo) had his first flat group winner when AKARLINA flew home in the Coupe de Maisons Laffitte (Gr.3) yesterday, for owner / trainer Nicolas Clément (watch the finish in Martaline's video).
