Homebred FLOWER OF FRANCE (Archange D’Or / Maid of Dawkins) won the Prix des Nenuphars at Longchamp yesterday in a tight finish. FLOWER OF FRANCE was sold by R&M for €16,000 to Paul Nataf at the Arqana October Sale 2010.

ESQUINADE (Archange d'Or x Estafilade) won the Prix des Poiriers for 2-year-olds at Clairefontaine yesterday.
The Alain Bonin trained filly who has been placed 4 times already this year, was guided home by Ronan Thomas to win by a length.

ARCHANGE D'OR had his first winner of the year when the 3-year-old filly PLASTICIA (ex. Seule a Paris) won on her first outing, on the 21st of March at Angers. Running in the colours of Alexandre de Rothschild, PLASTICIA is a half-sister to the multiple Listed placed HERE SHE COMES (Take Risks).

ETENDARD D’OR was the impressive winner of the Prix de Mondeville 2-year-old race on the fibre track at Deauville  today.  He showed a fantastic turn of foot in the straight leaving his rivals  struggling to keep up,  justifying why he was the favorite for the race .
ETENDARD D’OR is out of top R&M broodmare ROTINA, who has already produced numerous Group horses such as BELLE ET CELEBRE, APPEL AU MAITRE, YSOLDINA, WHORTLEBERRY, VALENTINO  etc.  He was sold by R&M for € 200,000 to the Marquise de Moratalla at the 2009 Arqana Yearling Sale.
His trainer Alain de Royer Dupré, and jockey Stephane Pasquier, were very pleased with his race and especially his acceleration in the final straight.

ACHANGE D’OR celebrated his first winner when the 2-year-old ELLE EST D’OR took the Prix des Hunaudières at Le Mans yesterday, on just her second outing. ELLE EST D’OR was bred by Aliette and Gilles Forien from their mare GAILY ZEST, and she is trained by Alain Couetil.

Pedigree Notes
Archange d’Or is bred on a Danzig/Lyphard cross which is the cross that has produced some 60 stakes winners which include Gr 1 winning stallions Clodovil, Oasis Dream, Aussie Rules and Spirit One.

The SADLER’S WELLS line is a strong starting point for Archange d’Or as the Danehill sire line has produced over 50 stakes winners on the cross. With this, daughters of Barathea, Poliglote, Carnegie and In the Wings are all proven on this cross. Sadler’s Wells own-brother, FAIRY KING will create the same cross so daughters of Helissio will be ideal. Sadler’s Wells’ close relative, Nureyev, is another Northern Dancer sire line that has proved successful with Danehill. Daughters of Ashkalani, Atticus, Fasliyev, Peintre Celebre and Spinning World have all produced stakes winners on this cross.

Breeding back to the LYPHARD has produced a number of stakes winners so mares from Linamix, Lyphard’s Special and Alzao lines strains look to suit well. NIJINSKY is another Northern Dancer strain that has shown plenty of success with Danehill via daughters of Royal Academy, Ile de Bourbon, Green Dancer and Niniski strains. Most other NORTHERN DANCER line mares will also suit Archange d’Or as the cross will create line breeding to Natalma.

It will also be productive to breed back to mares that hold the Northern Dancer/Sir Gaylord cross in their pedigrees. This could be particularly interesting as sires that are bred on this cross have a shown success with Archange d’Or’s family. GREEN DESERT mares will not only produce this cross but both Desert Prince and Cape Cross have sired leading stakes winners in Archange d’Or’s family. SHAREEF DANCER is another sired bred on the Northern Dancer/Sir Gaylord and his son Rock Hoper produced Archange d’Or’s half-sister Russian Hope (Gr 2).

INDIAN RIDGE is another sire that has produced success in Archange d’Or’s pedigree. With similarly bred Clodovil siring his Gr 1 winner Nahoodh on the cross, AHONOORA line daughters look exciting.

MR PROSPECTOR line has proved not only to be a successful cross with Danehill but also those sire bred on the Danzig/Lyphard cross as Oasis Dream has stakes winners to Machiavellian, Kingmambo and Gone West line mares. With the Danehill line having sired stakes winners to Woodman and Miswaki line mares as well, there are plenty of options for Archange d’Or from this sire line. Another branch Raise A Native sire line that is sure to be affective for Archange d’Or is SHARPEN UP. Mares from the Selkirk, Diesis, Kris and Trempolino strains will suit well.

The Nasrullah line is another sire line that has a proven record Danehill. There are plenty of options with the BLUSHING GROOM strain via the likes of Nashwan, Groom Dancer, Crystal Glitters, Rainbow Quest and Sillery. NEVER BEND also offers plenty via the Shirley Heights (via Elegant Air & Darshaan), Doyoun and Riverman strains. The French based GREY SOVEREIGN line through the likes of Caro, Kaldoun, Kendor, Kenmare, Nebos, Nishapour and Highest Honor, will also prove to be a triumph for Archange d’Or as the Danehill/Grey Sovereign cross has produced 25 stakes winners.

The Danehill/BERING cross has produced seven stakes winners to date which includes Harbinger (Gr 1). With this, daughters of American Post and Pennekamp will suit well.

Other lines that have proved successful for Danehill include HYPERION, via the likes of Cadeaux Genereux, Efiso and Thatching, DSCHINGIS KHAN, via Monsun and Lavirco, and SURUMU, through the likes of Lando and Acatenango.
