HEALTH PROTOCOL FOR 2008
Above documents will be required for all visiting broodmares or boarded mares : 
 
• passport endorsed by the country’s Jockey Club :
- with markings
- influenza and tetanus vaccinations up to date*
-  virus abortion vaccination up to date
 
* MARES WHOSE VACCINATIONS ARE NOT UP-TO-DATE WILL NOT BE COVERED
All mares coming from Ireland or Italy must be accompanied by a negative Coggins test, taken after January 2008 and within 28 days prior to arrival at Haras de R&M.
 
• LOW RISK MARES
 
IN FOAL MARES – MARES WITH FOAL AT FOOT : 
 
1 - a negative certificate (swab to be taken after the 01/01/08 and before foaling on sinus and fossa) searching for :
• METRITE (Taylorella)
• KLEBSIELLA
• PSEUDOMANAS 
 
2 - a negative certificate cervical swab to be taken after foaling (optional) on a using heat searching for :
• METRITE (Taylorella)
• KLEBSIELLA
• PSEUDOMANAS 
 
3 - a negative serological certificate on E.V.A (blood sample for serology to be taken after 01/01/08 but within 30 days to the covering)
 
BARREN – MAIDEN MARES : 
 
1 - a negative certificate (swab to be taken after 01/01/08 on cervical, sinus and fossa) on an unused heat searching for :
• METRITE (Taylorella)
• KLEBSIELLA
• PSEUDOMANAS 
 
2 - a general and complete bacteriology 
 
3 - a negative serological certificate on E.V.A (blood sample for serology to be taken after 01/01/08 but within 30 days to the covering) 
 
SEND US A SEROLOGICAL CERT. ON E.V.A AS SOON AS THE MARE IS CONFIRMED IN FOAL 
 
 
The stallion man can accept to take a mare known as seropositive stable, with a single result in 2008 ( blood sample to be taken less than 30 days of heat used ) as soon as the positivity level between the last serum of 2007 and the one taken after the 01/01/08 is stable or decreasing. An analysis to be done by the same laboratory.
The stallion man can accept to take a mare with an E.V.A result dated over 30 days as soon as she arrives :
• with this result,
• with a vet. certificate established within 48 hours confirming there is no E.V.A. case in the stud she is boarded at,
• a certificate showing that a new blood sample has been taken and is on its way to the laboratory for analysis. 
 
RESULTS MUST BE FAXED TO THE STALLION STUD AS SOON AS RECEIVED 
 
• HIGH RISK MARES 
 
As per the Intercontinental Code of Practise :
• three negative clitoral swabs (Sinus and Fossa) taken, last on an unused heat period
• a negative cervical swab taken on an unused heat period.
• mare may only be accepted after consultation between stud manager, veterinary surgeons and the D.S.V (Department Veterinary Service)
