POTTED HISTORY OF RM
Le Haras de Montaigu was founded by Gabriel Guerlain in 1903.

The three subsequent generations all took up the torch. Jacques Guerlain in 1933, Claude Guerlain in 1942 and his daughter, Aliette Forien in 1984.
With the support of her husband, Gilles, Aliette Forien decided to transform and develop the property into a true "business", but continuing to place the emphasis on all that separates working "à la carte" from mass production.

The stud became a commercial enterprise and for about fifteen years it has been oriented mainly towards the sale of yearlings, mostly at Deauville though also at Newmarket.
Over the years, it has acquired a stock of attractive stallions, of which the current jewel in the crown is KENDOR, who has been amongst the leading French stallions since coming to stand at the stud.

The little RESCOUSSE, winner of the Prix de Diane and second in the Arc de Triomphe carrying the colours of the Baron de Rédé, is remembered as being amongst the best horses bred by Claude Guerlain.
In Aliette Forien's first year in business, the La Reboursière and Montaigu stud achieved a notable success : SUDDEN LOVE was sold for FF 2,100,000 and went on to win the EP Taylor Stakes, then Group 1. She was also second in the Oaks and the Prix Vermeille.
